I happened to read a book a few days ago and found myself glued to my dictionary side by side. The reason? I could hardly comprehend the vocabulary used by the author. The book looked to me so much vague and finally I lost interest in its reading. This is not just my case. I am sure it might be happening to many people that suddenly in the midst of feeding their reading bug, they encounter vocab-syndrome. Why can't we be simple and yet effective? This may be one reason that how much ever I try to dissociate myself from earlier English classics, I again find myself entangled in their presentation and style, the reading of which is simply irresistible.
The English language has undergone so much transition in the recent times. The language that I use and used is very much different from what the mod gen uses and will use. I suddenly feel sometimes that I might forget what is actual or presentable English. It looks as though ALL IS FAIR IN THE GAME OF ALPHABET....
The other day while talking to a so-called-mod-n-stylish-gal, I realized that I sounded too outdated as far as speaking stylish English was concerned. Half the time, I stood musing over her choice of diction and the ideas that she wanted to convey to me.I smiled in my heart of hearts and felt as if my brain waves were constantly pricking my conscience that as a speaker of this foreign language , its high time that I too update myself like many of my colleagues who, sometimes for want of words, choose to follow the YENGLISH-(my coinage for the youngsters' English)
I ,in my chat with one of my professors, found her almost fuming when I raised the matter of language- users to her. I could hardly resist my laughter to see the frustrated scholar as I compared her to a common, illiterate woman fighting for her basic needs over a street water pipe.I really wonder the stress that she and others must be undergoing to converse with the youngies. One example being-O my son! How do you do? son:O ye moma! am dooin'fantoo! I could not comprehend the meaning of the word fantoo (I even checked dictionary in my moment of feeling utterly foolish),until one of his friends ,like a well-learned personality explained to me that fantoo meant fantastic!!!!( I was flabbergasted)
Thats my frenz ees d funda of fantoo and full toss langy i wudda uz f i cudda n wanna b caulda fundoo errrr langy freeky!!!!!!!!!! hola keep ye goin' n besta ho!!!! What a conglomeration of alphabetical pandemonium or rather a consortium......language is like that....be positive for it is always better than the best (even though you may be hurt at its character assassination).
